While the state of Louisiana does not require homeowners to install pool fencing, many local parishes and counties do. The recommendation for pool fences in Louisiana is that they should adhere closely to the public pool fence safety regulations which state that pools must be protected by a fence, wall, building, enclosure, or solid wall of durable material. Barriers must be at least 4 feet tall, and be equipped with a self-closing and self-latching closure mechanism at a height of at least 45 inches above the ground and provided with hardware for locking.
