Installing A Life Saver Pool Fence Saves Lives. Contact Us Today!

Swimming pools in the state of Wisconsin must adhere to state regulations regarding pool fence barriers. Wisconsin law mandates that a pool must be completely surrounded by a barrier that is at least 5 feet high and uses lockable, self-closing, and self-latching gates. These gates must open into the pool area and should be locked when the pool is not in use and should be maintained and routinely checked for proper operation. The fence may not have any openings larger than 4 inches in diameter and should have a lockable closure mechanism that is at least 4.5 feet from the bottom of the gate.

Additionally, pools in Illinois must be enclosed by a barrier that is at least 4 feet high and does not allow footing for climbing. The pool fence must not have a vertical clearance beneath the bottom of the barrier greater than 4 inches and must not have any openings in the fencing larger than 4 inches in width and height. The entrances to the pool area have lockable, self-closing and self-latching doors or gates.
