South Texas Pool Fence Requirements
In Texas, homes with pools must adhere to the following fence requirements:
The height of the pool enclosure must be at least 48 inches tall and any openings under the enclosure may not allow a sphere four inches in diameter to pass underneath. If the enclosure is constructed with horizontal and vertical members any openings may not allow a sphere four inches in diameter to pass through the enclosure. Additionally, it must have a pool fence gate. The gate must be equipped with a self-closing and self-latching device and have hardware enabling it to be locked. It must open outward away from the pool and the latch must be installed on the pool side of the gate and be at least three inches below the top of the gate.
