The World’s Largest Swimming Lesson (WLSL) is a global drowning prevention event aimed at building awareness around the fundamental importance of learning to swim. Research proves that participating in formal swim lessons can reduce the risk of drowning by 88% in children age 1-4 — the exact age range for which drowning is the leading cause of death.
Since its launch in 2010, more than 383,000 people in 53 countries have participated in WLSL lessons at participating aquatic facilities and organizations.
On June 20, 2024, the National Drowning Prevention Alliance supported WLSL with a day-long livestream full of interviews with water safety experts and advocates. One of the interviewees was Eric Lupton, CEO of Life Saver Pool Fence.
